Abstract
Today, with the rapid development of urbanization, lifestyle changes, neglect of public life and poor urban management, public spaces in urban neighborhoods have been neglected. City public spaces because they belong to all citizens and all citizens without any discrimination and have access restrictions can play an important role in local sustainable development. Despite these spaces in cities and discover why it is necessary again. This study aimed to understand the role of public space in local sustainable development through the components of citizenship, vitality, sense of belonging and identity, participation and engagement, in the city. A sample Volume By Cochran 120 set at 95 percent and The data set used in this qualitative study through questionnaires Yusef Abad neighborhood residents were gathered at Shafaq Park. To determine the relationship between public space and local sustainable development Pearson correlation test was used. The results showed a direct correlation, between the components of the study are positive and significant . As well as through analysis of variance showed that the statistically significant regression and strengthening public spaces to local sustainable development.
